Vision.T Design

At first sight, the Mahindra Vision.T SUV Concept retains the boxy, upright posture adored by off-road SUV enthusiasts. But a more thorough examination reveals more sophisticated, manufacturing-spec design.

A flat bonnet is complemented by a six-slat split grille, also found on the Thar Roxx. Its rugged picture is enhanced by the heavy black bumper with an uncovered yellow tow hook; squared headlights and vertical LED DRLs give it a sharp, contemporary look.

From the side, the likeness to the Thar Roxx persists, notably with the blackened-out rear quarter glass portion. Large off-road tyres, striking wheel arches, and a solid stance implying significant trail prowess define the concept. A neat touch that maintains the clean profile is the rear door handles integrated into the C-pillar.

At the rear, a spare wheel is mounted on the tailgate, just like on any Thar-inspired model. Squared tail lights with vertical LED strips offer a distinctive touch, balancing rugged appeal with modern styling.

Vision.T Interior

While maintaining the upright dashboard format, the Vision.T’s interior has a more modern feel. The cabin gets a dual-tone finish, a three-spoke steering wheel with “Vision.T” lettering, and a vertical infotainment screen that also displays climate control functions. Beneath it, a line of toggle buttons offers fast access to important features.

A completely digital instrument panel replaces traditional gauges in front of the driver. A fascinating element is the starter button located on the steering wheel — a layout more often seen in performance vehicles. The concept is shown in a 5-seat layout, appealing to both city and adventure buyers.

Built On The Nu IQ Platform

Based on Mahindra’s Nu IQ platform, also unveiled at the event, the Vision.T SUV Concept supports several body types and both internal combustion and electric powertrains. Mahindra claims its 227 mm of ground clearance and dominating seating posture give it the proportions of a true SUV.

With an approach angle of 28 degrees, a breakover angle of 28.2 degrees, and a departure angle of 34.9 degrees, the platform promises strong off-road performance. For a monocoque structure, these are impressive figures that could make the production model a capable off-roader.

Vision.T Powertrain Possibilities

Mahindra has not yet provided engine specifications. However, given the adaptability of the Nu IQ platform, it’s probable the Vision.T will be available in both electric and ICE models. This could serve as an all-electric alternative to the Mahindra Thar, Thar Roxx, and Force Gurkha, while also catering to traditional petrol or diesel buyers.

Vision.T Rivals & Launch Timeline

Once in production, the Mahindra Vision.T SUV might fit in the sub-compact SUV category with anticipated pricing between ₹12.50 lakh and ₹20 lakh. Its combination of off-road styling, contemporary elements, and flexible drivetrain choices would pit it against lifestyle SUVs in both ICE and EV segments.

Mahindra is positioning it as part of a larger family of SUVs built on the Nu IQ platform, which also comprises the Vision S, Vision X, and Vision SXT concepts. With the first model from this platform expected in 2027, the Vision.T could follow around 2028.

Conclusion
Though still some years away from showrooms, the unveiling of the Mahindra Vision.T SUV Concept shows Mahindra’s intent to blend rugged SUV DNA with contemporary flexibility. It’s a hint at where the brand’s design and engineering is heading, and it will be fascinating to see how much of the concept’s design and features make it to the final production version.
